So, tomorrow’s the big day. Just checked the projected attendance for this year’s Brooklyn Book Festival. Approximately 40,000 visitors.
(Gulp, heart rate increases)
As an unofficial vendor bum-rushing the event, I am trying to decide where to set up the Singulus Books table.
I’m thinking near the subway entrances, charging stations, or food trucks.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Leave a comment.
EXTRA:
Practicing the setup / breakdown:
Singulus Books – before
Singulus Books (stocked with 100 paperbacks) – after
All the best dear. I think subway enterances should work the best.

Wow! Best of luck, Brian 🙂 I agree with the above comment – subway entrances may be good, though possibly not too close. If it’s too crowded you may be overlooked. If you get near a food truck, expect ketchup.

Hope it’s a great day–wish we could be there!!!

My first thought on food trucks is that people who are hungry might be grumpy, haha.
Best of luck! I always love checking up on your blog to see how things are going. It’s great inspiration for my future self (still in the writing process).

Fingers and toes all crossed for you. Eyes would be also, but it makes navigating a bit difficult. I wish that i could offer a definitive ‘best spot’ suggestion but all I can come up with is that you don’t neglect the idea of somewhere near the porta-potties. Not adjacent, just in the most logical path to and from.

Ha ha! Good luck with that… out where I live 40 visitors would be a bunch!

Just want to admire your courage! I often have this fantasy (when we are travelling anywhere) of pulling over somewhere in a high traffic zone (pedestrians – not cars), setting up a card table, throwing my books on it, plopping down on a lawn chair and taking my chances. I love the idea of being a non-official vendor. Best of luck.

Wow! Good luck! I agree with Linda by the subway but not too close. There will be large groups of people and you don’t want to be run down or overlooked.

I would say near an area where people will be “mingling” or forced to stand in one spot. That in my mind would be near food trucks/stands.
Best of luck, Brian!!!!

I agree that by the subway would be good as people arrive… Sounds a big event. Hope it goes well!

Good luck, and best wishes. As noted above, I wouldn’t even know where to suggest. However, one thing does come to mind, especially with the laptop in tow – make sure you have some type of covering! Even if things don’t get wet, being out of the sun will be a blessing.

This is quite awesome! Looks like you have it all figured out! Wish I was going to be in New York for the book festival, not coming into town until the 28th. Here’s wishing you much success!

Can I say, too near the food trucks might result in lines forming in front of your table. Which may block you from the others.
